SA Downtown Visioning Plan

The plan uses a form-based code as the guideline for residential and commercial infill development in San Antonio’s urban core. The plan uses a necklace of green space, calmed traffic and pedestrian-friendly spaces to connect an underutilized part of downtown to the vibrancy of the River Walk. The Master Plan focuses on a water network that ties existing rivers seamlessly into water features in the streetscape and reclaimed streams and lagoons. A main road is redesigned as a shared street that becomes a pedestrian spine running parallel to the San Antonio River and the linear park to the west. The plan addresses the relationship between building facades and the public realm, the form and mass of buildings in relation to one another, and the scale and types of streets and blocks.
