PPK Punta Peninsula Kino
Sea of Cortez, Sonora, MexicoThe 2.3-hectare project is located in a privileged natural setting, on a 9.6m-high consolidated dune peninsula with stunning views of the Sea of Cortez to the west and the Laguna La Cruz wetlands to the east, in Bahía de Kino, Mexico.
Punta Península Kino (PPK) is accessed through Av. Paraíso, existing public street converted into a Rambla located at the watershed of the peninsula, and Av. del Seri in the lower part towards the Wetland.
PPK addresses and integrates in an innovative way both environmental considerations (as the constant transformation of the dunes) as well as urban, landscape and architectural considerations to achieve a harmonious natural-cultural ecological unit.
Pedestrian walkways, squares and squares are conceived as spaces for meeting and social exchange and where the main activities of the community will take place. These areas integrate different building typologies that allow socio-economic diversity by expanding the spectrum of market segments. This is done through different transitions that achieve an identity and value as a whole.
PPK aims the least disturbance of the land possible to preserve and emphasize the temporal morphological dynamics of dune nature and its intrinsically linked vegetation, thus concretize in identity values the natural phenomenological processes of the place.
GSH studio is in charge of the urban design and regulations, as well as landscape architecture (in collaboration with Arbol 2000) and architectural design of one of the beachfront Condos.
PPK is under construction since 2021, with First Phase lots sold out as well as 11 condo units.
